PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST:
The 2026 5th & 6th grade volleyball tryouts will be held on two days – Monday, July 27th and Tuesday, July 28th from 2:00-4:00 PM each day. This year there is a larger student interest in playing for the school, allowing us to have two teams. In order for the coaches to fairly assess players and make selections with integrity, prospective players must attend both days to be considered for playing on one of the two teams.
Location: SST Gym. Drop-off and pickup will be through the gym doors located at the back of the school. These will be closed tryouts.
Sports Physicals
***A hard copy of the sports physical must be on file with Coach Garcia or Coach Ruiz prior to the day of tryouts. This is non-negotiable. The coaches must know of any health concerns before the girls begin to try out. You can access the sports physical form on this post. They will also be available at the front office. Physicals are to be completed by both parents and doctor.
(Local urgent care clinics accept walk-ins for sports physicals if needed.)
Student Pre-Tryout Agreement
Students must meet the following expectations before they tryout.
***If selected to play for the school:

Players agree to submit weekly grade checks from all of their teachers throughout the entire season showing passing grades. We follow a “no pass, no play” rule.

Players agree that behavior issues reported by teachers and/or through referrals will directly affect their playing time and may result in removal from the team. Upholding character in all arenas is an inseparable part of being a student-athlete.

Players agree to attend ALL practices and games and to show up on time.
Parents, please talk with your children to ensure they will commit to these expectations before they try out.
Tryout Days – Requirements:

Proper athletic clothing (including knee pads).

Full water bottle.
-
Commitment to work for the full 2 hour period on both days.

Willing to accept and follow through with instruction and correction.
After Tryouts:
The team roster will be sent through ParentSquare direct message only to the students who made a team no later than the Friday following the 2nd day of tryouts. The maximum number of players for each team will be 11 players.
*If your child is selected to play for the school the newly released fee from Central Office is $120. NOTE: All clubs/sports will be 50% discounted for the students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and for the children of SST Staff and SST Board Members.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
There will be a mandatory Parent Meeting on Friday July 31st @ 4:00pm (Entrance will be through gym doors at the back of the school). Essential information will be given for the season (i.e. practice schedules, gear, etc.). Coach, player, and parent expectations will be reviewed.
Note: To ensure all are on the same page to begin the season this meeting is non-negotiable. Players may be removed from the team roster without a parent/guardian present at this meeting.
